Growing
from past successes and experiences, uNAVSA will unite to
support a single beneficiary that will be elected at the 2008 uNAVSA
Conference in Portland, Oregon (http://conference.unavsa.org).
The three candidates chosen will have an opportunity to present in detail,
information about their organization and a proposed project that uNAVSA
constituents can come together and perform as a community. Former recipients of
CPP funding and support, including VOICE, Catalyst
Foundation and VietAct, can attest to the invaluable benefits and help that was
provided by the vast network of uNAVSA's member base covering almost every
state in the United States.
The Union of North American Vietnamese Student Associations is a non-profit organization founded in 2004 as a means for Vietnamese youth organizations from across North America to develop a unified Vietnamese youth community and prepare its leaders through individual leadership training, organizational development and collaborative philanthropy. The uNAVSA staff is composed of volunteers including young professionals and college students committed to empowering emerging community leaders within the Vietnamese community in North America.
The annual
conference is one of the trademark projects of uNAVSA. During the course of the
conference, attendees from around the United
States and Canada participate in leadership
development, community dialogue, networking and entertainment programming.
Through uNAVSA, young Vietnamese American leaders at universities from across North America and young Vietnamese professionals
collaborate to develop their leadership skills, strengthen their organizations,
and reinforce the personal bonds in their community.
During the second uNAVSA conference held in the summer of 2005, in conjunction with the Vietnamese Interacting As One (VIA-1) Conference, the first CPP was created to provide a medium for youths and students across North America to work together behind one charitable cause for the Vietnamese community. The CPP focuses the charitable efforts of youth across the country on a single non-profit organization, giving that organization a chance to network and connect with students across the country, while giving students opportunities to take on leadership roles in supporting the beneficiary.
