On this issue Dr. Igietseme continues to rehearse and rehash the same old and tenuous arguments, because it simply suits him to do so. I cannot accuse of Dr. Igietseme of abetting corruption because he has written so vigorously against it in Nigeria.

I have wondered given the other previous diatribe regarding NIDO and the increased rate of spousal killings, and its aftermath words-war with Professor Aluko, and the dirty linens not long ago washed within our public domain herein, if there is something about textual rhetorics and our social action, especially in condoning corrupt actors, rolling red carpet for them when they visit abroad, chauffeuring them around, and now defending their excesses, when in vivid terms it make no sense.

Biko, Brother mi, a fine interview. We all have re-visit those
parts of Zik's powerful, morally inspiring, and politically necessary
intent and legacy, well, or the lack of it. This was the man who put
his own money (not in the bankrolled sense of today) to fight fascism
in Ethiopia, and independence in West Africa, as well as specifically

 Ola Kassim/Iguade et al:

I will insist on steering clear of the politics of Edo State because that is my State of Origin and I don't want to take sides on the ongoing legal tussle surrounding the Governorship.

That said, my focus returns to Ola Kassim's attempt to redefine the issues surrounding the innuendoes of Hamza, the misplaced blame and attempt to cast aspersions on innocent members of Nigerian Diaspora. Like some of us, Ola Kassim is a strong promoter of NIDO and other Diaspora organizations that buy into the visionary mission to foster dialogue between Diasporans and Nigeria/Govt, aimed at nurturing the biologic links, encourage networking, and to mobilize expertise and resources for Nigerian development. In that progressive framework, it is reasonable to reflect once in a while how these interactions and dialogues are yielding fruits. Nobody would quarrel with that approach.

It is an element of the internal class struggle by the ruling groups over the spoils of office.

 The Real John McCain
September 5, 2008
New York Times Editorial
By the time John McCain took the stage on
Thursday night, we wondered if there would be any
sign of the senator we long respected - the
conservative who fought fair and sometimes bucked
party orthodoxy.
Certainly, the convention that nominated him bore

(Scroll down for photograph.) Shortly, we'll hear what's surely the most important speech of John McCain's life - the one for which his whole political career has been a preparation. Liveblogging starts now.
