MEETING AT THE ECUADORIAN EMBASSY - CHOOSING A DATES/TIMES -RSVP by 9 PM Thursday

Hi All,

Dora would prefer to have 3 potential dates before she contacts the embassy.  

The embassy closes at 5 and has offered an hour meeting; I work, so would prefer 3:30 start time.  If you have a major concern with 3:30, let us know that and suggest a time.   I'm suggesting the following dates:

The following are all in December:

Tuesday the 4th

Wednesday the 5th

Thursday the 6th

Monday the 9th

Wednesday the 11th

Thursday the 12th 

Friday the 13th

Please provide your selections in order of preference. If you are not able to make a commitment but are interested, please let us know that as well.

So far I can see that Gerald Calderon and Viviane have replied for going to the embassy, they both indicate the 4th of December.  Lets wait to see if more people sign up so as to send the e-mail to the Attache letting him know of the number of persons attending and the date and time.  Hope he is in agreement with our request.
 
I can go any time as I said before, then I will go with what the majority prefers.

Here's what I came up for the Embassy trip.  In the initial email it seemed like there were a lot more folks interested.  If you would like to go and haven't responded - please do so today.  I may post this on other travel sites if it seems like we need more folks - we've indicated that there would be about 10-12 attendees.  Let me know your thoughts on that idea as well.

In the event that the above chart is scrambled, here are the final dates in the order of preference.

I forgot to mention - I had the incorrect dates for some of the days (the 3rd, 4th, and fifth).  I made a guess that the DAY was correct.  Sorry:)  Please let me know if I need to correct your availability.

The dates and order of preference hasn't changed. 

Dora,  please kindly check with the embassy about the following dates, and indicate that the group will be about half a dozen.  If they need a larger group in order to meet with us, I will post the notices on other travel groups and in Paul's list.  If you are able to set a date by noon tomorrow, I'll post in Paul's list this week.  Thanks again Dora!

I received a reply from the Attache of the Embassy of Ecuador and he said he will be very happy to receive us on Tuesday, December 3 at 3:30 p.m.
 
So let me know now if I should reconfirm that we are going on that date and time.

I've sent this to Paul's List.  Though I missed the deadline of noon today, hopefully he will still squeeze it in:)

This is about a 10 minute walk from the Columbia Heights Metro Station and parking lots  - is anyone familiar with on-street parking around the embassy (2535 15th St., N.W. in Washington, D.C.'s Columbia Heights neighborhood)?  If not, I will try to drive by over the weekend...

Thanks once again to Dora for arranging this!  Dora checked with the embassy: The correct address is:  2535 15th St., N.W., Washington, DC, and the only parking by the embassy is on-street. In looking at map, I think the metro and some parking lots are around half a mile away.

If I get a chance, I will drive by the embassy and try to get an idea of parking.  If anyone else is able to explore, especially around 3:30 on a work day, that would be helpful. 

I have not heard from anyone from Paul's list regarding this event.  In addition, and no one from this group has provided input on the option of posting this event with other travel groups.  Unless I have input to the counter, I will post this in other groups tomorrow.

The Cultural Attaché of the Embassy of Ecuador will give us a presentation and provide cultural information on Ecuador. Though a small country, Ecuador is fascinating with it’s indigenous people, amazing biodiversity and varied political past. If folks are available, we will go for a drink or dinner afterwards.  Please contact Kathie at kathk...@gmail.com if you’re interested (she will provide a cell to those who sign-up).

Cost:Free for the presentation and pay as you go if we gather for dinner or drinks afterwards

Several folks are available to get together after the embassy visit.  Does anyone have a suggestion of where to go?  If people will be coming by metro, a quick look shows there are a couple places, but I haven't eaten at them and am totally open to suggestions.
