Hi Kathie-

 

Yes, I'm interested in continuing with the group.  I am not able to go to Ecuador or anywhere else for that matter for the time being.  I'm now committed to helping with the care of my father-in-law (96 in January) who is expected to leave the hospital this coming week assuming all goes well.  I very much want to keep up with the group and hope to be able to come to the meetings, hear the discussions and contribute to the pot luck fare.  Thank you for checking on me.

I will not be going to Ecuador in January.  I did a tour of Quito and the Galapagos Islands in March 2010 using a land tour company known as Zenith Travel ( www.zenithecuador.com) and had a wonderful time.

 

I would be interested in going to Cuenca, Ecuador to check out the retirement living there some time in  the future.  I think this travel group is an excellent idea but it needs to be more organized that will facilitate better coordination for several group travels.  I would love to assist in getting it organized and would recommend that a Meetup Group be established where trips can be recommended and scheduled, organizers assigned and meetings scheduled.  The meetup group can be restricted whichever way you want such as members from Paul's List only, members from your google group only, age restrictions etc.  You will have an opportunity to approve or not approve any new members to the meetup group.

Unfortunately, I will not be able to travel to Ecuador with the group because I will be going to Paris in March and to Iceland in May, so it will be a little difficult for me to make a third trip in a matter of 2 months apart each, but keep me on your list and I will be happy to continue going to the potlucks and meetings too, and hopefully I can go on the next trip that may come up.
 
Is the group still interested in going to the Embassy, so that we can give them a call and set up a date to go.

Since I am most interested in visiting the Andes and the rainforest, September/October sounds like a good time for a trip since it would avoid the rainiest seasons in both.
