Honestly I don't understand why this hasnt been done. Almost every other self respecting email client has an option to put your signature either below or above replies and forwards. This is a must needed feature.
I am getting tired of scrolling all the way to the bottom of messages, copying, scrolling all the way up and pasting.

it's driving me crazy as well. gmail signature float, a hack using greasemonkey, also stopped working with the most recent version of gmail. arg, get with it google, i don't see how this has been requested sooo many times and there are even hacks out there to enable it (none of which are a great solution though, obviously) but yet they don't implement it...

I fourth this. The signature should definitely be above the reply, in
fact why isn't this default? Secondly we should be able to have a
different signature for each account. Lastly, let us format it with
rich text, and get rid of those annoying dashes. Why isn't this
default. I know there are Greasemonkey scripts to do all this but
seriously this is such a basic feature.

I fifth this, and apparently it's necessary to do so since in all
these months/years they're still not getting this little tiny point at
Gmail Dev HQ. Tons and tons of people already use and have used this
(http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/3067) script in Firefox for over
a year know. 15261 people to be exact (have at least installed
Greasemonkey first and next to that, that script) just to use their
signature the way THEY want to.
Now with the new version of Gmail, this script isn't working anymore
and the author is lacking time to fix it, so me and a lot others are
between a rock and a though spot here: not using new gmail or keep
cutting pasting signature + removing dashes.
PLEASE add this tiny feature to Gmail!!

I'm also being driven mad by the need to copy and paste the signature
to the right place. Please add this feature to Gmail. It's crazy to
have to rely on a script written by a third party who doesn't have
time to update it just to get this simple, basic feature.

There might be only 8 messages here, Gmail Team. Keep in mind that
the Greasemonkey script to accomplish this feature has been downloaded
15422 times as of 12/5/07. That's just users with Firefox AND
Greasemonkey AND know about that particular script. I would say there
is a definite demand for this feature in Gmail.
Thanks for a killer web app.

The latest version of Gmail just BROKE the greasemonkey script. That
means the workaround for > 10,000 users for floating the signature has
been broken. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE add signature float as a feature or
kindly "unbreak" the greasemonkey script.
