Occassionally when I add new tiddlers, then refresh I'll get an error
saying there is an error in one of the plugins. I then copy and
replace the plugin from another tiddlywiki (using a text editor) and
the error is apparently fixed. Then awhile later I can add new
tiddlers and the same problem will occur. It looks like there may be a
problem with the saving features. I only have AutoSave and
RegExpSearch checked in my options and Treat edits as MinorChanges,
Clicking on links to tiddlers that are already open causes them to
close, HideEditingFeatures when viewed over HTTP, and
ConfirmBeforeDeleting checked in Advanced Options.

would it help to know what plugins I have instlled?

Thanks Harry - much appreciated. It would be helpful to know what
plugins you've got, and also to see if you can reproduce the error
without any plugins installed?

Cheers

Jeremy

I started stripping out plugins and macros and along the way the error
occured again. The exact error is:

"Error in systemConfig tiddler 'macro name here' - SyntaxError: illegal
character"

So I copied the macro that was in error this time from another
tiddlywiki file using a text editor and pasted it in and the error is
gone. So, I copied the text of the macro causing the error and the
text of the good version and compaired them. They are identical except
the one in error has been stripped of "extra" white space characters.
Multiple spaces have been replaced with single spaces and 1 or more
tabs have been replaced with a single space character.

the macro name changes but it has rotated between WikiBar,
ForEachTiddlerPlugin, & reminderMacros so far.

To get this error to happen all I had to do is edit any
non-systemConfig tiddler adding some spaces to the end of a line then
close the tiddler then jump right back into editing the same tiddler to
remove the same spaces I added and closeing the tiddler again and hit
refresh in my browser.

I'm using Firefox 1.5.0.4
and TiddlyWiki 2.1 beta build 315
Windows XP Pro SP2+

I can also get this error to occur just by going into edit mode on an
existing tiddler and deleting it. If I then refresh the browser window
the error is back.

Hi Harry,

I finally could reproduce and locate the bug. Bugreport
"http://trac.tiddlywiki.org/tiddlywiki/ticket/18" now covers this issue
and should be fixed with 2.1

Many thanks for your efforts,

Udo

I just read that ticket, and wow, Harry's version of that bug is really obscure.  Well done Udo, I'm amazed you were able to track it down!

;D
