Hello there,

I'm fairly new to TiddlyWiki, but find myself using it more and more.
It's great!

I'm trying to create links within my tiddly (MonkeyGTD 2.1 alpha) to
various local files on my USB, but I'm having trouble getting the
links to be "live". Is there anyone out there who can tell me what to
do?

Thanks a bundle,

Joco.

Hi Joco,

I simply link to files from my TW using the syntax :
[[Name of the document|C:\folder\myfile.doc]] for example, which generates a link called "Name of the document" and launches this document whenever I click on the link. Is this what you want to achieve ?

If you are running on Windows, make sure you use "\" instead of "/" in the path. Otherwise, I have not experienced more complex issues until today.

Nicolas.

Hi Nicolas,

Thanks very much for your help. I did what you suggested and it worked
out just fine!
One small glitch: I'm using firefox and each time I open the document,
a new firefox tab comes up. Do you know if there is a way to avoid
this?

Cheers,

Joco

Hi Joco,

Do you have any extension installed such as "tab mix plus" or equivalent on your FF ?
I have read many times that this was the issue of the blank pages when clicking on an "attachment download" type of link.

Joco,
you may want to check
http://xdexavier.blogspot.com/2007/08/sendto-clipboard-coolness-tiddlywiki.html
that allows to put links to files in the clipboard from the Windows
explorer, that can later be pasted into your tiddlywiki. It has helped
me to avoid lots of typing :-)

Thanks for that Nicolas.

I'll check it out as soon as I can.

Thanks XV. That will save me a bunch of time referencing and linking
to dozens of files. I was NOT looking forward to the task, but this'll
make it a heluva lot quicker.

Thanks vm

Joco.
