Hi, guys.

Is it possible to rename a tiddler?

Yes of course -- edit the tiddler, and re-type over the title (it's in
a little text box of its own). When you click "done", the new title
is applied.

They say a million monkeys typing will eventually produce Shakespeare.
Thanks to commenters on YouTube, we now know this is not true.

Sorry, what I meant was refactoring a tiddler, not just renaming it. So
all links in a wiki to that tiddler should also update. Is that possible?

I'm sure there are more sophisticated of doing this but here is a poor
man's way of achieving the same thing without renaming the tiddler.

Create a new tiddler with the changed content; name it say...
NewContent. In the old tiddler you were thinking about renaming put
this: <<tiddler NewContent>> Now all links to the old tiddler will
display the changed content.

If you use TagglyTagging for navigation, then it's just about renaming
tags when you rename the tiddler, and that is handled nicely (as in,
you get promoted about whether you want matching tags renamed too).

Out of the box, there's no automated solution, but I expect Eric or
someone will be able to knock up a plugin if you ask nicely.

Cheers

Thank you for your answer, Daniel.

"Ask nicely." :) I don't want to bother anyone with little tweaks like
this. I just don't feel like that. But I'm surprised no one has asked
for such feature yet. I did a work around in my case, so no major
problems here luckily.

Would you mind sharing your 'work around' with the rest of us?

For that you can use the References button in the tiddler toolbar
(before renaming, of course).

The brute forward method is to find/replace the tiddler title names
within a common text editor.
But be aware of the different occurencies of [[tiddler title]] and
[[tiddler title]] if you use Udo Borkowski's PartTiddlerPlugin (http://
tiddlywiki.abego-software.de/#PartTiddlerPlugin).
Cheers Michael
