if you have never spoken to them disrespectfully then it is probably a
misunderstanding or a mistake. You should ask them why this happened.
If you can't attend the hearing write them a letter.

Yes I had the same issue. I was traveling out of town when the
incident supposedly occurred. I too was insulted by the accusation
and the manner in which I was requeted to appear, with threats of
fines if I did not show. Felt like I was a Kid being summoned to the
principal's office.
I requested the security guard appear as well. The guard did not
show (was fired for not showing) and everything was dropped. No
apology, nothing.

Total waste of my time, and it infuriated me beyond belief.
