I am new to the MET and was curious if anybody else had the problems of getting security called on them for talking on your patio. I am in the Hospitality industry and have to close my restaurant late at night. Does ANYBODY ELSE have this problem. What would be the best thing to do.
Thanks

Welcome to the neighborhood Marty!

When most of us are sleeping at night the last thing anyone wants is to be woken up by someone talking on their phone on their patio.  Unless your neighbor has new windows installed, our walls, floors, front door and windows are not very sound proof.  Do you have to speak on the patio so late at night?

I always recommend that everyone who has issues with their neighbors to write a note or just talk to them in person rather than calling security.  Often times people don't know and just need to be reminded.

I do think that it's not cool to talk in the middle of the night on your patio when we live in such close quarters.

Don't talk so loud?

Or maybe you have a hypersensitive neighbor and are screwed until you move...

It's always hard to tell with these situations.

Hey Marty...yeah, voices carry here, so it's not really considerate to have conversations on the patio late at night.  For sure it will be disturbing to your neighbors.  I always have late-night phone chats indoors.

I'm sure some people are just uncomfortable with any sort of confrontation, so they call on Security for help.

You may just have an oversensitive neighbor since walls are thin here.   .
We can hear the guy upstaris from us talking from INSIDE his unit late night all the time -its like having an elephant living above when he walks, yet we hope that is just being him and not trying to disturb anyone. (Wishful thinking!!)

Good luck!!
