Randos,

Please RSVP no later than Thursday morning for the Memorial Day weekend brevets in Mineral Wells.

Right now we need more riders. What is better than suffering in the wind, heat, and hills out west? Eating hot dogs and drinking beer? Come on HTFU and ride all weekend.

Here is the rider list so far:

200K:
Tim T., Brian M., John P., Susan P.

362K:
John P.

411K:
John P.

600K:
Gary G., Dana P., Debbie B., Ray A., John P., David C., Sharon S., Daniel S.

Monday 205K:
Gary G., Dana P., John P., Susan P., Debbie B.

Below are all the details:

Memorial Day weekend is coming up and it's time to start making plans to attend the Mineral Wells Brevet Weekend.  Three days of riding from the four star Executive Inn in Mineral Wells Texas.  Details are below:

Friday May 25th:
6:30pm - Diner at Joe's Pizza and Pasta (next to Walmart on the east side of town)
8:00pm - Rider Check In

Saturday May 26th:
6:00am - Rider Check In
7:00am - RUSA 200K, RUSA 362K, RUSA 411K, and ACP 600K Brevets

Sunday May 27th:
TBA - ACP 600K Brevet continues

Monday May 28th (Memorial Day):
6:00am - Rider Check In
7:00am - RUSA 205K Brevet

You got it, that's up to 805 RUSA Ks up for grabs over three great days of riding!

You need to book your rooms now.  Mineral Wells has many other Memorial Day weekend events.  Ask for the "Bike Race" rate. The phone number for the Mineral Wells Executive Inn is 940-328-1111.

Also I will have my room for all of Monday night.  So you can stash extra bikes and other stuff in there while you are riding Monday after you check out or a take quick shower before your drive home.

In the true spirit of randonneuring all routes will be unsupported with one exception, the 411K route will have a couple gallons of water stashed at the control in Brad depending how many sign up.  All of the other routes have plenty of stores along the way.  There will be no SAG fees.

As far as post cards go it is a good idea to bring a couple of them with you.  All Saturday 411Kers need a post card for Brad.  Monday 205Kers need a post card for Caddo.  I will have some "Scary Gary Forever Cards" available at sign up for 50 cents.  That is a 3x5 card and a forever stamp.

Mineral Wells is located one hour west of Fort Worth.  The rides all go to the west and south of there in the Possum Kingdom Lake, Ranger, and Lake Palo Pinto area.  All routes are extremely low traffic with spectacular views and endless rolling hills.  It is one of my favorite places to ride.

Email me back with the rides you want to do.  If you are on the fence as far as what distance or ride you might consider let me know so I have enough cards and cues for everyone.

Let's make this a great holiday weekend of comrade, fun, and lots and lots of cycling!

Gary G.

Gary, put me down +1 extra for Monday.  I have a friend I'm trying to convert to Rando and I'll be trying to persuade him to come along.  What;s Monday's route?

Is it just me and my lack of computer skills, or can you not open the
cue sheet links from the brevet calendar page?

Ray and others,

Bill our web master is aware of the problem.

The routes on Saturday and Sunday are the tried and true routes of the past with one exception. The control in Glen Rose is now David's grocery store about 0.1 miles after the old control Gabe's gas station which is closed.

Monday's route is the Possum Pedal with a control at the Caddo Post Office.

There should be files out there on Ride With GPS or Bikely.

I will have plenty of paper copies at sign up.
