I'm sure I've met him on several occassions but for whatever reason I can't picture who this is.
What a shame..

Totally awful news. He was a swell guy. My wife worked with him at (I
think) Hullaballo a while back. She's pretty bummed about this.

Skinny, sometimes wore glasses, often dressed in dandyish '40s/'50s
clothes - kinda looked like a younger, less creepy R. Crumb. Worked
the bar at Black Thorn, the door at Fred's, the counter at Vintage
Haberdashery, and waited tables at Mangia (I think).
He also fit into that category "extremely nice guy" in the best possible way. I didn't really have my first real conversation with him until a couple of years ago (around the same time he started managing the Blackthorn) but had always seen him around before that. I'm glad I eventually got to know him a little bit, and I'm very sad that he's gone. Crap.

I don't think they have determined a cause of death yet. Sometimes
this can take up to a couple of weeks (we had to go through the same
thing when a close friend passed away a few years ago at age 36...
turned out he had an enlarged heart and just passed away on the couch
while his wife was at work).
Yep. He was one of the good guys. My favorite Miko memory is from the RFT showcase day a few years back when I picked him up on my shoulders during the Phonocaptors set & we stumbled into the PA, almost knocking it over & getting us both kicked out of the Halo Bar. I was able to convince the security guys that it was all my fault & they should let him back in. He will be missed...

Yeah, I remember him most from when he worked at the Haberdashery,
Frederick's, and from hanging out at Mangia back when my wife waited
tables there with Megan and Abbie. He was also on our "Ass Babies"
softball team. He was everywhere, it seems. Gina is also pretty
bummed, as am I. You just hate to hear about something like this
happen to someone you know, especially someone as well liked as Miko.
On a few occasions at the Black Thorn, he wouldn't keep a tab for me and didn't charge for pizza. I tipped him generously, of course.

Yeah, I got a text message from Ben West last night and my response was "WTF?". He was one of the nicest people I've ever met. It will suck not running into him anywhere on South Grand anymore.
