You guys blew it by not going.  Bargain Basement & The Blind Eyes =
both good but The Black Hollies = !!!  I haven't been that knocked out
by a band in I don't know how long.  My brain melted and I saw through
time.  And I mean that in the best possible way.  They made my spirit
soar like the eagle.  *wow*

I agree completely - I love my band, but the Jersey Boys were the
absolute BOMB, baby!  And they sold VINYL LPs & 45s along with their 2
CDs and t-shirts.  OK, I grabbed a CD for $12, so I feel like I bought
them 1/4 tank of gas to get to KC today.  I just hope they look us up
if they come back thru.  A true pleasure to open for a band, and nice
guys to boot.  You didn't just miss a gig, kids - you missed a MOMENT
IN TIME!

Our mucho thanks to kopper for the invite.

The Black Hollies blew the lid off......!!! A time-warp right back to
Swingin' London, circa '66-'67.........un-be-lievable!!!

That Orange stack was the hottest thing I have seen in the past two weeks.

Hey, Casey, I didn't realize you were there or I would have said Hi.
I've been lusting after a hollowbody bass for a while and I've got to
get a 12 string guitar, too.  The End.

I thought the Black Hollies were amazingly talented but were a bit too
showboat-y. After a few songs it just seemed like a barrage of drum
solos and guitar leads with hardly a discernible song or catchy riff/
melody. I was also a bit disappointed that they didn't say "hey <band
x> is up next" which is just common courtesy after you ask a band to
play after you and proceed blow said band off the stage. I bought a
7". It's good.

The showboatiness was a large part of their charm. So was their
reticents. They didn't stop to say anything. They didn't even stop. I
hate to use the word, but I'd have to say they were actual artists
performing a legitimate show. I'd agree that they didn't have many
very memorable compositions, but they made up for that in the
performance, which is what the live show is for. And, at least they
didn't stop every three minutes to tell us the name of unmemorable
song they just played.

Without getting into a "Vantage Point"-type situation, I found the Black
Hollies to be one of the tightest bands I've seen to date. Hypnotically so.
I didn't notice any "showboating", seemed a natural part of the show, every
move, etc............and if the "blew said band off the stage" then maybe
there's room for improvement by "said band." I was absolutely
mesmerized.........refreshing, too. They brought their "A" game. Period.
