I'd like to weigh in on the issue of the teen who'd like to attend the
conference next month.

I am all for it with the acception of him attending the discussion about
adult male intimacy issues. I am thrilled a young man is interested in
finding out information about his uncle's CP. There are no teachers
better than his uncle and thirty or forty + of his friends to tell him
all about Life with CP.

That's all from me!

I have to agree but I do understand the concerns.it should be a
consideration for a topic of discussion for the future.

Are you sure that you want to exclude this teen-ager from the
discussion of adult male intimacy? Attending might prevent an unwanted
pregnancy. What precisely could be said in that discussion that might
harm him? Perhaps I am overlooking something?

I admit that I am biased because I was told as a teen-ager that I
didn't need to learn about sexuality the way other boys did because I
had CP.

Bob and Betsy,

Since a seperate conference for teens with CP doesn't currently exist (and probably won't before this young man is an adult), I'd encourage him to attend.  Especially the session on intimacy, as he'll be confronting these issues soon, if he's not confronting them already.  There is a ton of information I wish I'd had as a teen and young adult that he might gain from attending the conference.

I think besty is right I would feel bad talking about these issues with a teens present. I do have an idea maybe we could form a commmite of people two talk to teens via-emaill and start a pen pal group. I know I would have love to have a role model when I was younger.i think we really could give great insight

Hi,

Once again, it's clear to me that people are missing the point. This teenager DOES NOT have CP. His uncle does. Does this change the picture for everyone?

I definitely feel that if at some point we do have a teenager section of the conference for those WITH CP, that this issue does need to be addressed at their level and situation but since we are all adults, some of the things that have come up are not proper for a younger person to hear about at this point in their life.

Hope this helps clarify the situation,

Dina
