Subject: Arnold Palmer, Wild Bravado and Boldness
"It is not wild bravado that characterizes boldness.

"It is preparation and discipline that counts – a discipline that
reaches for the total and forward-looking relationship between the
mind and the challenge".

Arnold Palmer

This is Dr. Ray with a few comments about boldness.

Boldness is self-confidence in action?

Boldness, based on self-discipline - actual accomplishment - a genuine
sense of security within - provides the foundation for the right
amount of aggression and assertiveness in any competitive situation -
whether at work, at home or on the course.

Self-confidence can't be faked!  It is REAL !  Without it, the golfer
is lost within a continuing swirl of tension, confusion and self-
doubt.

With self-confidence you can face challenge with ease; knowing - win
or lose - you have performed at the outer edge of your capabilities.

As a Clinical and Sport Psychologist who has worked with athletes at
all levels of boldness, I assure you, self-confidence is the
predictable result of preparation and self-discipline.

So, take advantage of valuable practice time, even though it seems
more fun to "play" the game.

Dr. Ray
