Subject: [TEEINGOFFWITHTHEMASTERS]:%D] Rory Mcllory In The Zone
"I suppose I got into the zone" said Mcllory as he wins his first PGA
Tour event in Charlotte, NC.  He is an amazing young talent and I
expect we will hear much more about Rory as his career unfolds.

I don't know what Rory meant when he said he got into the zone, but
let me share with you my own conception of the process as clarified in
my book, "In the Zone: Making Winning Moments Your Way of Life."

When you are In The Zone, you are operating at your peak.  Like the
great players you can get there if you know what it takes.  These key
elements of mind/body mastery are Relaxation, Balance, Flexibility and
Focus.  As such these are fundamental skills we can develop over time
and to various levels of mastery.

In The Zone performance skills apply to everything we do, on and off
the course, in auto racing, tennis, bowling, basketball, you name it.
In the words of B.P. Buzz Lynch, Fellow in the Society of
International Test Pilots, "In The Zone captures the essence of my
profession, test flying and airshow performance.  Relaxed, total focus
is an absolute requirement if a pilot in my field is to survive.  The
need for these skills is multiplied and reinforced as the pilot
progresses up the ladder to commercial, fighter pilot, or even
astronaut."

Self-mastery is much of what this is about and this requires
development of the total self, including physical, mental, emotional
and spiritual aspects of our being.

It is my expectation we will see Rory and his talent evolve over time
and we will observe another example of what we are capable of as
golfers and individuals in all walks of life.

Dr. Ray
