Hi all. Great meeting last night. I have 3 websites for you. One is
for the State of the State of New York, with Gov. Eliot Spitzer. I
know, current issues aside, it's a great example of using a frame and
values = One New York. That page is:
http://www.ny.gov/keydocs/NYS-SoS-2007.pdf
Thanks to Alex for that reference.
Also, from the Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt Institute, you can read
FDR's nomination address (as well as many others) - another great
example of frame and values, and a lot of it is applicable now. That
page is:
http://www.feri.org/archives/speeches/jul0232.cfm
Lastly, because FDR refers to the platform in his speech, you can find
that platform on the American Presidency Project site, under party
platforms: http://www.feri.org/archives/speeches/jul0232.cfm
Just so you know, that platform is 1488 words on roughly 3 pages. It
does not use much values language, but I think it's good food for
thought. It addresses some of your concerns Dan, about being strong,
both for and against as a document. See what you think. And maybe
see how you can change it into the language we are looking for.
Despite the fact there are no planks, I feel more confident we can do
this in 2 pages and have it meet our goals.
Thanks again for all your efforts and energy.
Sharon
