Dear Assemblyman Steven Cymbrowitz,

Below are some of my recent communications on a local matter of pedestrian, jogger, and bicycle safety at Sheepshead Bay.
It would be quite an accomplishment for your office and for the DOT, with many future injuries & even lives saved by such a simple measure.

Let's hope that your office can get Brooklyn DOT to do this very cost-feasible measure for the sake of safety.
It is a very populated area which would benefit by such needed traffic markings.

Many local residents & folks new to this nation who drive in that area would recognize such safety markings, and this would save lives and many future injuries !

THANKS for any communication(s) and follow-up you can make to the Brooklyn D.O.T. Commissioner's office...please keep me posted on any developments...
This would also include the other side of Sheepshead Bay, i.e., Shore Parkway...

Kind regards,
Paul

Emmons Avenue AND Shore Parkway the two streets of the Sheepshead Bay harbor are where I have seen
enough near-accidents which could be obviated by the simple step of painted bicycle lanes.
Pedestrians would significantly benefit, also.

Hopefully your advocacy group can convince the Brooklyn DOT Office of this overdue need for this always-busy area.
THANKS !

Hi,
Although this has not been an active NYC DOT local project, it is hoped that your office would agree that painted traffic markings and signs to indicate a bicycle path along Emmons Avenue would have the additional benefit of protecting pedestrians from often-aggressive motor vehicle traffic. There are "close calls" every time I'm there, for both bicyclists and pedestrians, and a Bicycle Lane would make it safer for everyone who travels in the area.

Actually, additional bicycle lanes on both sides of Sheepshead Bay would make the locality even safer for those not in motor vehicles.
At some point we are all pedestrians !

Please consider again the e-message below, for forwarding to your local NYC Council representative, for their Transportation Committee.

Your acknowledgement & e-reply are welcomed !

By this e-letter, it is hoped that you can view favorably an initiative to add bicycle lanes along Emmons Avenue. This would serve to help protect many bicyclists as well as pedestrians from motor vehicle traffic along the quite busy area of Emmons Avenue. This roadway is wide enough to accommodate such safety paint, in both directions, especially in the eastbound direction, closest to the fishing boats.

Sincerest thanks for whatever your team can do toward this promotion of healthful exercise & transportation for many who would enjoy it for many years to come.

Your e-reply is welcomed; my courses are on Sundays, otherwise I would stop by in person to chat with you about this.
Best,
Paul
