Our tradition continues as we carve out time in our busy weeks to reflect and pray during Advent. Mark your calendars now for weekly Advent Evening Prayer on Tuesday December 1, 15, and 22, 7:30-8:30pm in the Chapel. Note that Tuesday, Dec 8 is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception and a Holy Day. Mass that day is at 9am, noon, and 7:30pm. A 30min discussion on the Immaculate Conception will follow the Mass at 7:30pm and all are welcome.

“St. Charles Is”…is a 30-minute video of more than 20 parishioners saying what St. Charles means to them and telling fascinating stories of how the parish developed into what it is today. You can see the entire program on Comcast channel 69 or Verizon channel 38 on Wednesdays at 6:30pm and on Thursdays at 9:30am through the end of November. You may want to record it since there are no plans for making it available for sale. The program was produced by Jan Prisco with assistance from Mary Ann Ackerman and directed by Paul Steinmetz.

THANKSGIVING TURKEYS
Calling all Turkeys! St. Charles Parishioners will be cooking a complete thanksgiving dinner for 25 families in need. Here's how you can help…
1. Financial donations to be placed in the "turkey containers" at the entrances of the church after the weekend Masses.
2. We need help to prepare the dinners on Wed. Nov 25 beginning at 8am in Benedict Hall. Call Fran Hobbs 703-525-6872.
3. In addition to the cooked dinners, we are collecting Thanksgiving-type food to help out other low-income families in our community. Please bring in canned sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, corn, gravy, stuffing and other non-perishable food items to the Parish Office. Thank you!

We are currently in need of small cans of tuna, pasta, fruit and snacks for our homeless clients. We also need pasta sauce, peanut butter & jelly and small bags of rice. Thank you so much for your continued support of our Food Pantry during these difficult economic times.

--GMU has graciously allowed us to use their parking at their building at Kirkwood & Wash. Blvd. for our weekend Masses (only). Enter the surface lot from Kirkwood or enter garage from Wash. Blvd.
--If you park in the Parish lot, you can ignore the “reserved” signs on the weekends.
--Please do not park in fire lanes or block the priest carport
USED CELL PHONE COLLECTION
We are collecting used cell phones for the Good News Jail Ministry which does wonderful work, including in the Arlington County Facility. Drop-Off bin in Benedict Hall.
REQUESTS FOR MONEY
St. Charles is a very generous community and because of our location in Arlington we often have individuals come to the Church requesting money for various reasons. If someone approaches you and asks for money while you are here for Mass or other events, please do not hesitate to refer them to our Social Services Coordinator, Jo-Ann Duggan. Her hours at the office are Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays & Fridays from 11:00 until 6:30 p.m. Thank you.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Volunteers are needed to work at Christ House as receptionists for the Emergency Assistance Hotline. Come and volunteer one 4 hour shift mornings or afternoon to help answer calls for assistance. Training provided. A desire to serve those in need required! Volunteers are also needed to help with running and organizing the evening meal at Christ House. Greet diners, help with set-up, clean-up and make sure ministry runs smoothly. Sign up to work one 4-7 p.m. shift a week. Catholic Charities is also looking for volunteers experienced in bankruptcy law to work with clients facing financial crises. EMERGENCY WINTER SHELTER VOLUNTEERING
Volunteers needed for Arlington’s Emergency Winter Shelter. Arlington Street People's Assistance Network (A-SPAN) will be operating an emergency winter shelter near the Courthouse Metro station from November to March. Volunteers are needed help to serve meals, distribute hygiene supplies, bedding, and clothing to guests. St. Charles will be organizing several small teams to volunteer together one evening per month from 5:30-7:30pm. Team coordinators are also needed.
