Dear Moushmi and IAG Assam members

Please find attached the assessment report shared by Manik from DCA in Assam. I'll request other members also to share any assessments if they have and IAG Assam secretariat to kindly coordinate and update on the status in Assam.

I'm flagging the Assam status in next Emergency coordination meeting and will request more information from members in Assam so that we can do Unified Response Action Planning for Assam.

In solidarity

Vikrant

Subject: Assam Flood situation updates.

Dear Sphere members,

Greetings from NE!

On behalf of Assam IAG, we would like to know whether any agencies have conducted any assessments in the newly flood affected areas of Upper, middle and lower Assam. As we are all aware that the entire flood situation in the state of Assam is very critical and is deteriorating day by day, hence to this end have any agencies decided to conduct assessments and have plans for any response?

The group would appreciate updates on this from each agency.

This is also to inform you that CRS has still not conducted assessments however CRS partners are continuously accessing the situation and updating us regularly. Meanhwile, CRS is planning to raise resources for the same.

I also take the opportunity to welcome Mr. Biswanath Sinha from Sir Dorabji Tata Trust, Mumbai to the Assam IAG group. Please note that Dorabji trust had been responding to the Assam floods from 2007 onwards. They have plans to respond to the 2008 Floods also in Lakhimpur district.

Mr. Sinha has been marked in this email, hence I would request Mr. Vikrant to kindly add his id to the Assam Sphere IAG.

Thanking you.

In Solidarity,

Moushumi Das.

CRS Guwahati.
