Dear Colleagues,
 
To review the situation and plannning of Unified Response Action Plan, Sphere India management committee is calling an emergency meeting at Sphere India office between 4 - 5:30 pm today.

Report from: Vasudeva-Patna Desk

On 24th Aug. at Patna an official press briefings was done by the state officials relief and rescue Mr. Pratya Amrit(Add.Commissioner), for the first time officially admitted that around

·         10.73 lakh population is effected

·         235NDRF personal,400SAP and400 regular police are deployed for rescue operation along with 150 boat 23 motor boat and

·         10990 food packets has been dropped till date.

·         25000 Polisheets

·         51 Relief Camps

The above official figures itself elaborates the efforts made and its capability to handle the situation which may further deteriorate beyond control any time if further rain continue as being reported in the catchments areas falling in Nepal .

 

12 Thousands of people have taken shelter at East-West Corridor NH between Pratapgang and Raghopur since 19th with support of neighbours's support still the state rescue operation has not been streamlined .

 

As per the report coming in the NDRF Rescue team is just arriving with it's gadget for evacuate thousands of people still trapped in the countryside areas loosing all the communication linkages.Th e most effected Blocks are

 

·        Basantpur(100%),

·        Chattapur(100%),

·        Pratapgang(100%),

·        Trivenigang(60%),

·        Raghopur(40%) where almost 3.5-4lakh population are being trapped.

·        According to themedia report hundreds of people are drowned out of which 50 were washed away only in Balua village of Basantpur Block unfortunately the native place of the present Disaster Management Minister of Bihar Sri Nitish Mishra S/O Ex. Chief Minister Sri Jagganath Mihra

1. Brief sharing by member organisations about their organisational response plans. (Members are requested to forward me briefs for compilation and circulation)
 
2. Composition and TOR for IAG Assessment team. (Team may be going for mission tomorrow morning).
 
3. Adtivation of Unified Response Coordination Centre in Sphere India office in Delhi and Saupal.
 
4.  Information compilation of funds available with member organisations for immediate mobilisation.
 
5.  Planning and Strategy for long term Fund and resource mobilisation.
 
6.  Humanitarian Appeal and Press release.
 
Please find attached the minutes of the meeting on 26th August, An assessment report from a local organisation ( MEGH PYNE ABHIYAN) in Sapaul and some latest media updates.
 
As discussed in the last meeting the member organisations are requested to represent alongwith their communication or fund raising coordinators in this meeting.

Dear Colleagues,
 
For those of you who are planning for the Plastic Sheeting procurement, please refer to the guidelines.
 
After today's meeting at Sphere India office,  a working group will recommend a standard Hygiene Kit for all member organisations and some important standards in context of Bihar and current crisis.
