Thanks for posting. Can you tell me more about the files that you're
trying to view? If the files are larger than 100 pages or are password
protected, you may have trouble viewing them. Currently only the first
100 pages of PDFs and PDFs that don't have passwords can be viewed on
Google Docs. If this isn't the issue, let me know and I'll look into
this further. Also, please let me know the browser you're using.
Thanks again for reporting this issue, and for your patience.
Well these are PDF files that I'm trying to view. Few of them may be
in excess of a hundred pages but not all. I just cant preview/download
any. And these are NOT password protected.
I'm using Microsoft Inrernet Explorer Ver 6.

I have never been able to view PDFs shared with me. There are only
three. All of them are fewer than 10 pages. I keep getting the "Sorry,
unable to generate preview. Please try again later." I haven't heard
any good responses that indicate anyone is aware of it or, better,
working on it. As far as I know, PDFs can't be shared.

Thank you - I can confirm that I can access, preview and search for
text within the shared PDF from a non-gmail account, so it is
certainly possible KristinHenderson. I wonder if there is some extra
component you need (Chandler, does one need some kind of PDF reader
installed; or some add-on such as Flash, to read PDFs in Gdocs?).

Thanks for your patience with this issue. I think that the PDFs
causing this trouble are most likely encrypted in some way. I'm going
to contact some of you via email to get an example of one of these
PDFs so that I can take a closer look. Thanks again for your
patience.
Hi - did this get resolved? I'm a new user, so apologies if I'm missed
a trick.
I just forwarded several pdf's to my gmail and now I'm wondering how
to get them into my google docs.
I can read them (gmail just refers to using default software on my
home machine) but don't see a way to move them into my docs.

Did this get resolved? I'm having the same trouble. PDF's sent by my
assistant can be viewed by others offsite, but not by me. I get the
"Sorry. Unable to generate preview" message, but others on the shared
list can see them. I can upload PDF's and see them. But not the PDF's
that my assistant uploads.
Thanks!

I'm having the same problem - can't view any of my uploaded PDFs, nor
can I download them to view elsewhere. I'm effectively locked out of
all of my PDFs. Did this ever get figured out??

Thank you for continuing to post about this issue. Currently, shared
PDFs can only be viewed by Google accounts. We're working to improve
this feature and appreciate all of your feedback.
Sorry, unable to generate preview. Please try again later"- going on
20 straight hours now. It worked ok before that but not at all now.
This is still not fixed.
I am unable to open pdf's that I myself placed on Google docs. All
other documents open fine. All of them are small. This thread seems
to have petered out. Do you have a solution?

Same problem here.
I have uploaded some pdfs on my Google Apps site and shared them with
my other, private googlemail account.
The private googlemail account can neither view nor download the pdfs.
All I can see is the
"Sorry, unable to generate preview. Please try again later"-message.

Thanks for continuing to post about this issue. It would be great if
you could tell me some more information about this problem.
- Is this happening on PDFs you're trying to upload now? Or has this
just started to occur on PDFs that used to open without any problems?
- Is it possible that the PDFs are encrypted?
- Are you the owner of the PDFs, or a collaborator? If you're the
collaborator, you may want to check with the owner to see if they have
deleted the file or their account.
- Does this happen on all PDFs, or just some?
If there is any other information you think might be helpful, let me
know. Thanks for your patience, and for your help looking into this.

It just started today, with PDFs that until today I had no problem
viewing.

No.

I'm having the exact same problem with my PDFs. None of them are
encrypted. I didn't have a problem with opening them before. It just
started about 2 hours ago for me. Do we have an answer yet???
Ditto here. These are documents I've been opening and working with
all day, every day, for the last few months. I cannot open any of my
(one-page) pdfs. Cannot download or print, either.
