I had the same thing happen. The file itself still says it's still in
the missing folder (the small green text to the right of the file
name) but the folder itself has vanished! When I made a new folder
and added it, the file kept the old folder's name as well so now the
file says it is in two folders although I only have one on my side
bar.

Come on Google - please find out what's going on here and sort it out,
for the peace of mind of the rest of us as well as to allow these guys
to access their documents. I'd be completely lost if this happened to
me as I now rely on Gdocs for some of my records. Is it a Google apps
thing?

My folders (about 25 of them) have all vanished, too. The documents
remain - just as with everyone else. I first noticed the problem
Sunday, Nov 25. As of Monday, Nov 26, the problem persists. (It
happened once before, but the folders reappeared in a day or so).
I've tried two different computers (Mac and PC) and two different
browsers. The folders are all gone, at least for now. This is a
SERIOUS problem and seems to be originating from Google, not from my
PC.
Concerned that there've been no comments on this thread from "google"
- it's not a minor issue and it's making me seriously nervous about
continuing to use the service.

Just to contribute my two cents. I am also missing some but not all
of my folders, just like others have mentioned. I first noticed the
problem on Sunday, Nov. 25.

Hi, I'm missing some of my folders too. The documents are still tagged/
labelled with the folder they are from, but the folders are not
present in the folder list anymore.

Hi!
I have the same problem. I will wait to see if the problem will be
resolved. Otherwise I will stop using google docs.
Want another place to park and share your files on internet : www.xdrive.com 5 Go Free.

Same problem here. No docs are gone, they're still filed in folders,
but I can't access the folders. Don't know if it's at all connected,
but I just signed up for gmail and deleted my old account email from
my profile. Anyone else just change their email?
I have exactly the same problem with lost folders which I think may
have happened on the weekend of Nov 18th.
I had many folders just before that weekend, which is when I went on
vacation. Upon my return today I have only 2 folders (still) of which
one was a TEST folder set up when I tried to figure out what was going
on. All the other folders appear to have been blown away.
The tags are still in place. Every folder was manually created during
this past year. All are now gone.
How can they be retrieved? Can Google recreate them or is there a
utility that will do it?

Please try at least the panancea of throwing away cookies and
temporary interent files. Also log in through secure http: https://dosc.google.com to bypass any proxies.

Have already tried clearing ALL cookies etc etc, but doesn't help.
Also, I can't make your link to secure login work (though since I
don't use any proxies that I'm aware of I can't see it will help).

Yes I did. Sorry I should have mentioned that but u know how your
brain is after vacation.
I did the following:
1. Deleted all temporary internet files
2. Deleted all cookies
3. Deleted all history
4. Not related, but I updated windows & rebooted computer
5. tried docs.google.com (rsf21 - the reason you couldn't make the
link work is that it said dosc.google.com).
6. Logged back in and still the same.
7. Do u think it's related to their updates relating to remembering
where you left off last time logged in? I suspect it may be.

Is there any word on a fix for this? I love the service but it's hard
to trust it when my folders have been missing for weeks without any
fix or even response from Google. I've come to expect rock-solid
reliability for google services, this seems very uncharacteristic.
What's going on here?
Same goes for me. The docs still say they belong to a folder, but the
folder is not there. You can't delete the nonexistent folder either.
Putting the docs in a new folder gives the docs two folders. I also
have a note showing that I share two docs with
"tuckerresea...@hotmail.com" - which is me. Click on that and there
are no documents. This is very disconcerting. I thought this would
be a useful utility, but it slowly is getting too buggy to be useful.
Just three minutes ago I tried to empty my trash and the docs are
still there. I tried to delete a document and it is still on my "all
items" page.
Too buggy.
This folder problem has been sitting here on the group since November
20th and Google has done nothing.
Exactly the same issues here, what's going on here Google? It's been
almost 3 weeks and still nothing. Can you at least confirm to us that
there is an issue and you're working on it? Does anyone know of a way
to directly get a hold of them (since this route doesn't seem to be
working)? I like the Google services for the most part, but I'm
thinking of dumping all my documents off of here, it's hard to trust a
service this buggy.

Thanks for keeping this live - I agree it's surprising not to have
heard more from google...
I accessed mine by using the option to view files by 'type' (eg
spreadsheets) - at which point the files were there and I could put
them in a new/other folder.
