Hi guys thanks again for coming out to out Red event during the last
meeting. It was great seeing you all and meeting new people in our
business. I must go to more events, and i will.

I just purchased a 15" MacBook Pro 2.5 ghz with 4 gb of OWC C4 Ram,
250 HD, eSata express-port card, LaCie Pro 2 Big Dual eSata Raid 1tb.
I'm running 10.5.2 OS, FCP 6.0.3 and Red plug-ins.

My question is, what is the highest Res. file format I will be able to
edit with ProRes 422 HD 1080 or 720? or am I dreaming? I am hoping to
shoot with the Red camera 4k 2:1 and transcode to ProRes 422 HD to cut
and finish on my MacBook Pro. If not, what is the highest Res. format
I will be able to use with my system? Any help here will be great. I
don't want to use a Mac Pro 8 core to do this. Thanks

Dawson:

You're resolution is only limited by your storage read/write speeds; you seem to have terrific portable hardware. Technically you should be able to edit 1080i or 720p. How will you monitor your video work?

Thanks René for the feedback, I haven't tried this yet so it should be fun. My plan is to transcode everything and work with the edit using an Apple 23" monitor connected to my MacBook Pro. Than I will color grade using a calibrated monitor for final output.
