Do we know on which ship Patrick Simon arrived in the USA?
I believe I have found Thomas Simon in NYC, or at least one of them. I found a Thomas Sammons that arrived on the Constellation in 1857 in NYC, and I think that is about when Patrick arrived. There is also a Thomas Simon earlier, about 1854. Both would have been born 1835 or 1836, which would fit our chronology. Also, a Thomas Shannon found with Wife Ellen and son 1 year old Charlie in NYC in the 1860 census (saved page 1 of that to shoebox) and Thomas Simonds, Mason, from NYC was drafted to the army in 1863, listed as married (I added that to shoebox too.)

Mom found some of Grandma's certificates, including the attached Naturalization Intention and Naturalization documents for Patrick. According to the Intention, he traveled from Liverpool to New York in March of 1858. I haven't been able to confirm with ship's records yet (I did some searches, but haven't found anything that matches).
Oddly, the Naturalization Intention is dated October 9th, 1860, while the Naturalization document states he appeared October 17th, 1860. Perhaps it occurred as expected on the 9th, but it didn't get entered into a register for another week? Not extremely important, just something I found odd.
I just discovered this evening that my trusty high-quality color scanner is not supported in modern operating systems, and can't be made to work with my computer. Looks like I'll have to scan with my multi-function printer for now, and start looking to buy a new scanner.

No ideas just yet.
