Subject: Aragorn/Arwen relationship arc, etc.
Hello all -- Sorry for the long inexplicable silence from the author
herself. I'm here; I've arrived. I'm finally finished with my most
recent manuscript (Walking through the Wardrobe: A Devotional Quest
Into The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe -- due for release this
fall), so I can finally weigh in on stuff here, hurrah!

Okay, first: I couldn't figure out how to reply to the original topic
on Aragorn & Arwen, so I started this new one.

Second: I'm definitely a geek about mushy romance, so I didn't mind the
sparks flying on screen between Liv and Viggo. BUT I couldn't stand the
Hollywood kiss during his coronation. Ugh. Completely ruined the
solemnity, dignity, and historical significance of the moment. However,
this is not to ignore the importance of their relationship. Tolkien
himself felt that the extra material on Aragorn & Arwen included in the
Appendix of ROTK was the most vital story in there. But I think it was
given far too much prominence in the film.
