Camp was great! I really enjoyed teaching the kids, and they
loved the lessons. I found that I had each group twice,
instead of once, so I had to come up with another lesson
which wasn't bad because I already had one planned for
Children's church. So, I just doubled the supplies and had
the kids at camp make christian survival kits for the first
class, then the treasure hunt for the second. Being a dorm
mom is a great feeling. It's almost like having 7 of your
own daughters, but only for less than a week. The kids, boys
and girls, all learned chivalry that week too. They really
had fun with it. The guys took up our trays,(yes, even
mine!:})did some of our chores, opened doors for the girls,
and more. I had to think of something to repay these young
gentlemen, for just saying thank you did not feel like
enough. So, I had the girls learn a song I sang in choir, Go
Light Your Candle, by Kathy Troccoli. They sang it at dinner
time, in which everyone is supposed to dress up nice, and
awed the boys who at the time were too afraid to tell the
girls what they thought of it, so they told me..."Wow, it
was beautiful", "Hey, can I see it? It's really
pretty", "They sounded like angels". Before they sang, the
girls were afraid the boys would laugh at them, but at the
end, they all stood up and cheered for us. I'm really glad I
did this week of camp, and they pleaded for me to come back
next year. However, I have no idea what God has in store for
me next. The last night, I left beanie babies and letters on
the girls beds telling them how much I loved them and what
they meant to me. I really felt like for 5 days I had been a
mom to 7 girls.
