Dear All,
A little self promotion:
The two discussion/requests for material bring to mind Bourdieu's theory of the habitus and his discussion of the authoritative language of worship (the "how" "why" and "says who" of musical-liturgical choice and performance). I discuss these ideas in a recent article in _Ethnomusicology Review_: "So, They Aren't Always this Angelic? An Ethnographic Study on Being and Becoming an All Saints Choirboy." I look at the socio-religious dimensions of an Episcopalian boy choir as well as issues of ritual transformation, historical consciousness, authenticity, and authority in liturgical music performance.
