Folks,
Thanks so much to all of you who came to SHDH24 for making the event a
wonderful success. Very special thanks to the volunteers who helped
make the event run so smoothly - Tom Harrison for setting up the
network and equipment, Joel Franusic for signage and greeting, Miesha
Brodsky for helping serve and clean, Kitt Hodsden for doing hte Costco
run, and of course to all of you who came early to help set up and
stayed late sweeping, binning, and tidying the plcae back up.
To help people coordinate their schedules appropriately, we've come up
with a tentative 2008 calendar for DevHouses. We'd love to throw a
new location or two into the mix, so if you know of a venue that that
can ideally fit ~150 people and their parking, is fun and homey, and
is available for use on a Saturday, please let me know. (We can
provide all setup, tables and chairs, food and beverage, and cleanup.)
Tentative 2008 SHDH Calendar:
4/26: SHDH#25 @ Sun, Menlo Park
5/24: SHDH#26 @ San Francisco
6/28: SHDH#27 @ South Bay
7/26: SHDH#28 @ San Francisco
8/30: SHDH#29 @ South Bay
9/27: SHDH#30 @ NEW LOCATION?
10/25: SHDH#31 @ San Francisco
11/22: SHDH#32 @ South Bay
(No December DevHouse)
SHDH25 is going to be blowout "Silver Anniversary" event and is going
to be HUGE. Sun Microsystems has generously allowed us to use their
facilities on 4/26 - we'll be able to fit 500 people in! We'll be
bringing in old school famous hackers, opening up supercomputers to
hack on and use for cluster computing experiments, and have other
special surprises in store. Tell your friends and save the date! More
announcements about SHDH25 will be coming next week - it's going to be
our most Epic DevHouse Ever.
Thanks, everyone!
Cheers,
David Weekly, Joel Franusic, Tom Harrison, and Jeff Lindsay
