Google keeps on indexing my menu links as some page descriptions
although i have used

<meta>
descriptions
keywords
titles

<title>

<h1><h2><h3>

the spiders seem to still index the side menu as a page description.

Ok firstly i know how to use the meta tags correctly and have done for
many years do please dont mention anything to do with that.

Literally i just want to simply hide a few links from google spiders.

example

<a href=http://example.com/index>Home Page</a>

How can i hide this link alone from the spider and allow the rest of
the page to be picked up by the spiders.

Thanks in advanced

Easy: you canNOT hide links from spiders: if they are in html code, they will be seen and read.

You can ask politely to spiders to leave some areas in your site unspidered, via the robots.txt file. If they are well educated robots, they will comply with your request. If not, they will simply ignore it... or rush to explore these areas you do not want to be spidered.

Just to be complete: in fact you CAN hide these links if you are using the thru javascript: spiders will be unable to follow / manage the links 'computed' by javascript and will ignore them.
