Hello everyone,
We got a casting call for a juggler for a Disney DVD.
Reply to *vi...@vickigoggin.com* if interested.
Below are the details .................................
Hello there Matthew and Daniel,
Thanks in advance for letting me contact you out of left field. No,
don’t worry – this isn’t spam mail.
I'm a casting director for commercials and industrials. For one of our
current jobs we need an excellent juggler in his (or her) 20's. I do
quite a lot of real people casting; and when it comes to jobs like this
requiring extreme skills, we always go for the real/professional deal
(not an actor who "thinks" he can learn to juggle at an expert level
over the weekend or a hobbyist). I’m begging your expertise with this
because finding a talent that young with the level of skill and
experience we need is going to be a challenge. I’d be an idiot not to
reach out to certain juggling groups. You never know who for example at
the Santa Barbara Juggling Association will be perfect or know someone
who could be perfect.
In a nutshell:
This is the eighth in a series of educational DVDs we’ve been casting
for Disney Imagineering. Real Disney “Imagineers” are the teachers and
hosts, demonstrating various principles of science. This episode tackles
Newton’s 3 Laws of Gravity.
One of our ongoing Imagineers is actually a juggler and is using those
skills in the piece. What we need is someone who will quickly out-juggle
him with objects beyond the norm of clubs and balls. It’s not a long
scene, but it’s an instant read wow scene using outrageous props one
doesn’t see or typically associate with juggling. (Unfortunately fires
and knives are out since the age group learning these principles is one
that will go home and try it themselves).
There are also a few lines to say when he (she) suddenly pops up in
other scenes.
It looks like the role will be shooting in Burbank, Anaheim and Orlando.
The shoot days should be 5/30 or 31 (local-Burbank w/ juggling portion-1
day), 6/15-23 (Orlando-2 travel, 2 shoot, 1 down day), 6/30-7/2
(local-Anaheim - 2 days). Tentatively that gives us 5 shoot days, 2
travel and 1 down day. In the event of a fitting prior, that's included
in the price.
Coach airfare to/from and then lodging, meals, transportation while in
Orlando will be covered by production.
The rate is $800 per shoot day. $400 per Orlando travel/down day. This
includes talent agency fee (one never knows who has representation of
some sort these days), all days and all use. So if we do need all 5
shoot days and 3 travel/down days, we're looking at $5200.
We are scheduled to hold auditions on Wednesday 5/20.
If someone is not available for Wednesday, but nonetheless perfect ....
he (she) can still contact us. We’ll let ‘em know what we need on video,
he (she) can shoot it themselves and thanks to modern technology email it
Okay, I’ve said enough. I’m attaching a copy of the breakdown as it was
released to the agents here in LA as reference, but again .... I’m not
counting on talent agents. Those actually involved with the skill being
sought are always the smartest (and very much appreciated) resources.
Any ideas and/or input you have, terrific. Let us know. Do please feel
free to pass this email on to other worthy folks in the SB juggling
realm. Thanks a bunch.
You’re the best,
Vicki
