Greetings, Rochester Sierrans,

We are in the process of redesigning this email to be more informative
and user friendly - you'll probably notice more changes in the
upcoming weeks.  In the meantime, please consider attending some of
the interesting events and activities listed below:

Saturday, June 13 –   Hike through Conklin Gully (near Naples).  Meet
at 9:30am at First Unitarian Church, 220 S. Winton Rd., Rochester.
3-5 Hours.  Moderate to strenuous in difficulty.  Leaders:  Howard &
Carole Camp. (Outings Committee)

Saturday, June 13 - Rochester City Chicken Club – self-guided tour,
2-4pm, Four Rochester locations:14 Menlo Place, 24 Benton St., 96
Edgeland St., 155 Norman Rd.  Learn about raising chickens in the
City, their housing needs, feeding, care, and the local regulations.

Monday, June 15 - Film:  “Blue Gold”, 6:45pm at Henrietta Public
Library, 455 Calkins Rd.  Learn how we are polluting and wasting our
finite supply of fresh water.  Learn how corporate giants force
developing countries to privatize their water supply for profit, and
how corrupt governments use water for their economic and political
gain. (Great Lakes Committee)

Tuesday, June 16 – Wetlands Committee mtg, 7:30pm, call 442-6890 or
586-6085 for info and directions

Thursday, June 18 – Film:  “Sustainable Table”, 7:00pm at First
Unitarian Church, 220 S. Winton Rd. This film takes a clear look at
the food we eat, where it comes from and how it affects the
environment.  Learn how your food choices radically help or hurt the
Earth and effective ways to practice responsible stewardship.

Saturday, June 20 – Call for volunteers!  Completion of the Scientific
Data Collection for the Washington Grove forest at Cobb’s Hill.  Meet
at 8:00am at the Nunda Entrance to the Park.  Join research student
Justin Rogers from SUNY Brockport as he completes a study       of the
forest at the Park.  You will be trained to identify a variety of
trees and  shrubs and help others collect data at random intervals
along a line transect.  You will find this method of surveying a
forest interesting to watch and participate in.  Contact Peter Debes,
