Open 5/17 Thursday from 6pm to 10pm – 3D Printing
This week Reverse Space's 3D printer group is going to try to finish the Prusa (www.reprap.org/wiki/Prusa_Mendel). This printer is almost completed. With luck I am hopeing we should be able to do a test print. A specical thanks to the members of FredHack (http://hackerspaces.org/wiki/FredHack) for helping us complete the electronics called RAMPS needed to run the printer as well as Matthew for doing several hours of soldering.
The two items I am still missing is the glass print bed and the four springs for the heating printing tray. I'm going to try to buy pens from a store and use the springs for the bed. I did order the correct springs from mixshop.com, but it does take them quite an amount of time to get orders out. As for the glass, I think we can use painters tape on the build platform with PLA for test printing.
We also have a Makerbot printer for anyone who want to print something. Feel free to come by
If anyone knows how to cut the MakerSlide Google Sketchup design to fix inside the makerbot, I would be happy to print one and well on the Zcorp printer. It's seems easy enough, but every time I try to chop a piece of the slide off it deletes parts needed. You can't use scale to reduce the size.
The MakerBot 3D printer just broke. I was printing something for the meeting tonight. MakerBot is super fast to send replacement parts so it should be working by next Thursday or sooner. Below is an e-mail from MakerBot support. They appear to have the best support for 3D printers of their price range.
Thank you for contacting MakerBot! I'm going to have a new wire harness sent to you so you can get back up and running.
I'm also going to have our shipping team throw in an extra X-Axis endstop cable. Nate pointed out to me that your motherboard popped its 5V Regulator. After quite a bit of digging, it looks like we've found that this is probably caused by a short in that cable, so it might be in your best interest to replace that as well while you're at it!
Let me know if you have any questions and I'll be happy to help!
Thanks again,.
