I know the security of it has been compromised, but the cards are
cheap, and I've even found a PIN pad that can take both the card and a
PIN to open the door. The PIN pad is only $40 shipped, and I'd like to
add the multi-factor authentication (from the YubiKey itself) to my
skillsets.
RFID is something else I want to get into.
We could also issue members the MIFARE cards to control access - if a
card is compromised, the card can be revoked and cheaply replaced. I'm
developing a relationship with the vendor in Serbia that I purchased
the developers kit from.
Another cool project that I'd like to help on is the RFID soda
fridge/vending machine. I've seen several videos on YouTube about
people adding RFID card readers to vending machines, and I think that
would rock for the space.
This is the development kit I purchased:

I'm willing to learn about the smart card and system integration, if
someone wants to handle the door hardware itself, etc.
Could you people working on this project get in touch with me off-list please?
