The MakerGear (www.makergear.com) Prusa 3D printer has arrived. Reverse Space is setting up a group to build the Prusa. The date and time is still to be determined based on the number of people interested in assembling the printer and when we all can meet. There is no cost to join the group to build this printer. The instructions are all online to assembling it and we have all of the parts.

If the members are happy with this build, we would like to build another open source 3D printer www.PrintRbot.com. Most of the parts to this low cost printer ($300) can be printed on our 3D printers. If you want to build your own 3D printer for your own home, you are welcome and we will be happy to help. For more information on joining the team to build the printer, please communicate at our Google groups at http://groups.google.com/group/ReverseSpace

Well we can start building it this Thursday 6PM-10PM if the time is fine with everyone. If not we can find another time that works for everyone. I think only Wednesday is not available by the host company. Can't wait to see it print.

I plan to be there tonight, maybe a little after 6.
Should I bring my own tools? (soldering iron, wire strippers, screw
drivers.. etc?)
Anyone know how much of the work is able to be done in parallel?

Good times last night, although I think everyone in attendance would
recommend to future builders to be very careful with the
instructions(i.e read ahead before you do anything)

Haven't even started the electronics hopes that goes a little faster
at the next meeting.
I know we are just trying to get the basic up and running, but this
sounds like a pretty cool improvement, skip the tedious drive belt and
use another printed part:

Enjoyed meeting everyone at the build. Looking forward to the finish? at the next meeting.
I thought it was kinda fun that we hadnt really looked at the instructions before buiding-haha

I second the cool improvement you posted below. C-ya Mike

I know that I can't build that ramp for the motor to run on. Trying to print a long connected rod or ramp without warping or flexing is very hard. The design could be sent to shapeways.com to be printed on their $50,000 3D printers which have a much greater resolution and accuracy. 3D systems PROJET I think is what they use for plastic prints.

What I was think of doing was altering the PRUSA printer to run on maker-slides (www.makerslide.com). They main problem with maker-slide aluminum rails is that you can get any!!I'm so tried of waiting months to get 3D printer parts. An idea I had was to build the rails using abs plastic rather than aluminum with some type of method to reinforce the structure. Do the maker-slides have to be made out of metal?

An idea!! Could the maker-slides be printed on our ZCORP printers? I know it is possible to strengthen the power based print with epoxy. I have some epoxy left over from another build.

Does anyone know where to find the design files for the Maker-slide? Since it was on kickstart.com they should have posted the files.
