Hi there, before i ask what i need to, i want to say thanks again to
everyone involved in this online rembetika community. If it wasnt for
you guys, my playing would be nowhere.

Quick question: does anyone know what dromo is used in Dios Manges Mes
Sti Filaki? Or at least someone has a vague idea?

Unfortunately, Χασικλιδικα Ρεμπετικα does not give the dromos for any
of the songs.

A very easy way to play it on trichordo is D Ousak with "chords" like
that (tablature):
003 - 031 or 001 for first line (Dm - Cm)
333 - 444 for scnd line (F - Fdièse)
Melody can thus be played with strumming of the 2 lower open strings

"sti filaki" means "in the jail-house" as long as I know....In fact I
don't know what "slammer" means... (my dictionnary neither), my
english is perfectible
filaki is the same root as in "prophylaxia" (I've read you like
etymology...)

but i'm still having a bit of trouble with the song.
Kriko, your version works well, but the 001 part doesnt seem right to
me...
also, im having trouble figuring out the melody for the part G G#. it
seems to almost leave ousak for a few bars!
if anyone has any tips i would appreciate them!

I think you're right for the GG%part ("ton aera na tou paroun"), it's
not Usak anymore, I'd say it's a Sabah (in D in the DmCm version, in E
in the Em Dm version, in C on the original) (or a part of another
dromo, doesn't matter in fact)
It happens often that the dromos changes in the song, in the chorus
for exemple

the 001 is not a "real" chord (D-A-D%), the "real" chord is more 031,
but I think it sounds OK although. perhaps because in these old songs,
tonal harmony is not that important since this is some kind of modal
music, and it's almost possible to play the same chord throughout the
song: if you listen the first song of the "walrus site"

guitar plays always the 3 same notes.
(I don't know if you see what I mean, hard to explain clearly)

On which instrument do you play it? some version a easier on certain
instruments, the EmDm (Fabian Filipoussi's) is the better on guitar it

I play it on guitar and trichordo bouzouki.
I've been using the Em Dm one that Fabian gave, but I would like to
learn yours, its just that the "chords" you give don't settle very
well with my ear yet.
Until then the way i play it when i sing with it is i play the melody
on the bottom string while using the top two as a drone, which is good
enough for playing it/showing off i guess.

I chose the word "slammer" because it's a slang word for a prison or
jail. It is a euphemism. Many euphemisms for prison, in English, are
humorously intended.

My long list of alternatives was a list of synonyms. Each of them
means the same thing: the jail. My favorite, because I think it is
the funniest, is "the stony lonesome". I hear "slammer" very often on
American television.

Yes Kriko, it has a passage from sabah in τον αέρα να του πάρουν and
back to ousak again. Note, of course, rebetiko ousak is not the
oriental ussak! It is what in oriental makams is called Kurdi. But I
don't know the logic behind the "numbered chords".

Φυλακή is the proper, official word for prison, not slang.

in the prison the magkes sit together. one built a baglama and the
others are clapping or doing some noise with the mouth, like the
rapper today. tsch or sss, or tschak, or taka taka, taktaktak. in
another thread we discussed about the filaki at oropos from batis,
and one sent a picture. and there is also a cd: songs from prison,
only rebetika.
