Cville IT job: senior sysadmin/operations

We are looking for a special someone to launch and grow our operations
team. We prefer individuals interested in both application development
and systems engineering. Our entire system lives entirely in the
cloud, where we run 100's of machines. And we're growing like
gangbusters.
You will automate sysadmin tasks, troubleshoot performance issues,
create new tools and/or processes to make things run more smoothly and
efficiently, and build a world-class operations team around you. When
you aren't working on existing projects, you might be benchmarking
alternative platform technologies, improving CI run times, and working
with the small development team to improve our agility.
As our first official operations team member, you will help us shape
the organization from the ground up, including important topics such
as on-call rotation, escalation and fix strategies, and so on.
For the short term, you will be expected to participate in an on call
rotation after you are fully up to speed (traditionally 1 to 2
months). The current on call schedule is Mon-Thur or Fri-Sun, on a
rotating basis. When on call, you can expect to receive a few warning
alerts, help fix an occasional broken deploy, etc. You can also expect
to receive an alert or two some nights during your rotation. If there
is a service outage, you'll take the lead on restoring service and
performing a postmortem analysis.

* Strong background in high availability 24x7 operational environment.
* Strong background in linux system administration.
* Broad knowledge of open source technologies.
* Experience with JVM tuning, installation and troubleshooting.
* Experience with or strong desire to learn AWS platform.
