Used to be Rs 6 for 4x6 at GK Vale (MG Road), Bangalore and at Dass Color Lab, Chennai. This was a year back. Not sure if the prices have come down further. -gxr

Hi
I generally have a lot of problems posting in the R2I club (both new threads and replying to the existing ones). Very rarely my attempt gets through.
This was one of my missed attempts. Thats why I thought of putting my request as a reply to this post as this discussion is closely related to my question. Admin may want to move this and post it in a relavant thread.
I want to buy a good digital camera before R2I. I currently have a 2MP Canon (4yr old). I am not satisfied with the indoor pictures I get from this one. There are too many choices in the market ranging from ordinary digital cameras to SLRs. I tried googling to know the difference/advantages of a digital SLR but could not get any clear guidance. My requirement is to get good indoor and outdoor pictures. Photography is not my hobby. I would request the pros to help me make a decision.
I would appreciate if anyone can point me to some website or any earlier thread which gives me the list differentiating SLR from an ordinary digital camera.

This month's issue of Consumer Reports magazine had a comprehensive article on choosing different classes of digital cameras. They are known for unbiased reviews. But you have to refer to a paper copy as web access is only for subscribers.

#4 - I would highly recommend Canon A-series. These use standard AA batteries (so you don't need to lug around recharger everywhere). A good value would be the A610, for about $275.
Last year's A510 is great too and goes for less than $160.
Most other cameras are very good too but they all use custom rechargeable batteries.
