Hi Quality of Life Services,
Thrilled with your pro-active response to crime in my home town of
San
Leandro. I grew up in San Leandro in the 1970s and left to attend UC
Berkeley (class of 1982). I returned in 2000 to live after going
through a divorce and I live in the same tract house I grew up in on
Burkhart Avenue. It was a happy enough neighborhood when I was a
child, all the children grew up together and played together. Now
it's teen age boys, obscenity, yelling, open marijuana use, an ex
con . . . open bigotry and racial tension.
What Jim Knowles and the editors at the Times edited from a recent
letter to the editor published last month is that I have had about
eight years of harassment from the mayor's family. They live at 1840
Burkhart Avenue, San Leandro, 94579 and the daughter and her two
young
sons have been yelling at me and taunting me, a white forty eight
year
old woman. I have never met them, I don't even know their names.
The
mayor just showed up one day in front of the house and that's when I
learned who she is after eight years.
I also have had calls to the house constantly over the last eight
years by neighboring housewives trying to invade my privacy so I feel
humiliated and degraded and pushed to suicide. They discuss with my
elderly mother everything from when and how long I use the bathroom to
the details of what I have in the refrigerator to my daily schedule
and if I may have been out seeing somebody and whom. One called each
morning at 7:30 a.m. and as early as 7:00 and would try to have phone
sex. I overheard my mother saying she was forcing me to perform oral
sex on her and she refers to it as cleaning.
There is a long history of the police coming to the house and I should
have called them myself as a child. Things escalated in 2004 again
for some reason and again in late 2007.
The dirty old men in neighborhing houses have had to die before they
stopped harassing me each time I left or arrived home.
The smell of marijuana comes from the house from time to time; there
are a few houses on my corner of Burkhart Avenue at Wicks Boulevard
that have young sons in them and the parents seem to smoke pot
regularly. The children are underage or were. I usually smell it at
dinner time but as early as breakfast, ten a.m.
I told the mayor this in person and he denied it, citing a need for
proof and implying I was some kind of pervert for wanting to get into
their homes. An ex con Robbie Fuller lived nextdoor to the mayor's
daughter and her family and I said the ex con Robbie Fuller had been
tormenting me for years but was friends with his daughter. The ex
con
Robbie Fuller and the mayor's son were fixing a car together in the
driveway. The mayor just responded "we don't know if he (the ex con
Robbie Fuller) was a drug dealer". However, I had seen a pack of
cars
pull up to the house in the afternoon, one at a time, stay for a
minute or so and leave.
At least the mayor did check to see if ex con Robbie Fuller had been
let out of prison. I knew ex con Robbie Fuller had, he had come back
and taunted me with "do you want me to show you what they did to me
in
prison".
Thank God the house has been vacated because the father, he too with
a
long police record, died. Now it's up for rent as it didn't sell.
I had also complained to the mayor about drug and alcohol abuse that
involved persons in my own household and he responded that he knows
them and I owe them an apology. That's when I went over the edge and
contacted the police, the retired chief I see all the time working as
security at the main library, Chuck Kane. I forwarded to him the
correspondence between the mayor and I. I contacted Peggy Huebel of
the SL Police and she told me I can get a restraining order.
My mother, who is about 75 chastised me hatefully for
talking to the mayor and warned me not to talk to him again. She was
so oppressive I had to stay with a friend for about a month. I was so
concerned about more retaliation when the letter came out in the San
Leandro Times but she seems to be more
surreptitious now.
Free Speech Now!!!! Combat bigotry and oppression in San Leandro!
