how to read and modify a .doc file using PHP?

Hi,

I am fairly new to PHP. I have PHP installed on unix server. Actually
I want to know how to read and modify a ".doc" file using PHP. I have
uploaded the ".doc" file on my unix server.

Please help me to get a solution for this.

When you say read are you talking about fetching data from it or just reading it for the purpose of outputting it?
