I am sorry to hear of this mass resignation of most of the voices that made the Daily Times so valuable to read. I hope that the Friday Times has not seen such a disappearance of staff. Those 2 newspapers have been the only ones from Pakistan that I have continued to read in the US. I did find that they presented a far broader range of opinion than other papers that I was following, and I more often than not found myself in agreement with the editorial opinions. The work of all of you stalwarts will certainy be missed by me.

Sincerely,

Dear sir

Is the resignation of four employees out of a staff of 500 to 600 working for daily times and aajkal can be stated as mass resignation. If so then pls put your mathematics straight. Business at daily times and aajkal is being carried forward every day as usual and a very reasonable product is being produced everyday for its readers across pakistan.

Regards

Dear Friends
I have worked with Najam sethi sb first in his The Friday Times as I used to scams.  I remembered that once i interviewed Nawaz Sharif in Jeddah and no one was ready to publish this interview fearing the wrath of Musharraf. This was Najam sethi sb who published this interviewed in his tft not withstanding the fact that Nawaz had put him in jail. He is a professional and a bold journalistl.
When he launched Daily Times, i again filed stories for his paper with a different name. I really enjoyed working with him. Lete me tell you that he is one of the best editors Pakistan has ever produced. He is among a very few who knows what the news is and how to use it. He is the man who knows how to encourage his team and reporters like me. In all these years, it was my deep wish to work under Sethi sb in DT as a reporter. I always told my friends that had i some bank balance to run my kitchen, I might have joined the team of Najam Sethi sb. He is a great editor and we all will miss him. But, I think he has taken a right decision at a right time to become an anchor person at Duniya tv. His is a sane voice and we need such mature and wise people like him and Ejaz Haider sb in broadcating media to tell the people what the truth is.

I agree with klasra sb, actually at this forum it is a fashion to hit senior journalists like sethi sb, abbas nasir and non-journalists like nasim zehra. That's why I just delete all until here comes rauf klasra.

Dear Najam,

I am sorry to hear this. I have to say that I always found the Daily Times to be a publication of the highest quality, a cut above not only the other English language newspapers in Pakistan but a notch or two above most English language newspapers wherever else in the world. I am sure that the paper will miss the astute and intelligent guidance and stewardship of you and your colleagues.

I hope all is well with you. What will your next project be?

My warmest regards to everyone back in Lahore,

Best,

Philip

Dear All
For general public it is very difficult to sort out unbiased, fair and balanced  journalists/newspapers/tv channels. I think so and my experience is at present no journalist particularly reporters, anchor persons and columnists is unbiased. While working in Jang Rawalpindi on desk seeing any news item filed by any reporter, not only me but any of sub editor/news editor etc was able to judge to tell that the story was filed by Hanif Khalid, Tahir Khalil, Illyas Ch. or others. Now even a layman can tell you that which anchor person/columnist has inclined which political thought. The supporters of PPP and Muslim League(N) have common likings and disliking about private TV channels/anchor person/columnist. So plz dont defend Najam Sethi or others as their viewers and readers have a clear cut approach. PPP supporters will never like Haroon Rashid Javed Ch Irfan Siddique ( Now also Dr Shaihd Masood) type columnist/experts and ML N supporters will reject Najam Sethi Asda Ullah Ghalib Tahir Sarwer Mir type
columnist/experts. Even the TV channels have their own political and other vested interests and agendas.  No news paper n Tv channels will publish or telecast news or reports even based on facts against multinational and national companies who usually sponsor their ads and expenses. So sir media even now is different and seems to be revolutionary but it does not mean that they are doing something special for common man. Sab apnay apnay chaba lagaye apna apna soda beech rahy hain ....only doing business, earning money and try to make their empire more strong as our whole national and political leadership is doing.

Regards

Tahir

"Filed stories with a different name" is it a confession of a crime by a senior reporter of The News?
Dear Ansar did you notice that?

Dear Najam sahib,

Greetings, though we only worked together on getting 'Charlie Wilson's war' printed in Pakistan, so our people could learn that coverty side of the story. I have learned a lot from your balanced editorials and reporting. Was actually very happy to see you on the 'idiot box' trying to make some better sense for the audiences here (who have been fed besides toxic stuff a lot of one sided matter) which truly is a welcome and fresh thing.

I hope you continue to appear on the tube and continue on doing what you do best, however as a friend and well wisher, please stop from trying to appear to be so prophetic, for that underscores your great anayltic ability to see and present most sides of the story. Wish you all the success in all your future undertakings and also request you to maybe write a book on the Daily Times affair(s). Am sure will become a best seller.

Best wishes

Shahid

We have seen some horrible emails but we are very eager to see the reply of Najam but he is still tranquil. What has posted CFO Suhail Ahmed and few debarred employees of DT, whichever Najam left the DT for the basis of workers or left for money for TV?. Reply should come from Najam not from his subordinate. And second, some body posted email that Najam got 10m rupee from Malik Riaz but Najam is also soundless on this issue.

I consider Najam a very dignified man. I would request him not to belittle his tall stature by replying to these anonymous emails which are intended to malign an illustrated media professional. Admirers of Mr. Sethi have already cast their vote in his support from all four province and abroad on this mailing group. This mailing group is are meant to discuss media-related issues not individual cases. Mr. Bhutta, can you please stop this process of blackmailing now?

Militants or terrorists they were taught under the official faculty with public funds and regrettably Musharraf supervised these terrorists for years and years. American and other world nations are saying that Pakistanis are all the times cheating and of course we did. If we distinguish the past record of Drone attacks our intelligent people did nothing but American did a bunch from sitting inside Afghanistan. All national and international terrorists were killed from 2004 to 2009 surrounded by and inside Pakistan by American not by Pakistan. Where on earth is our splotch and where we are standing? After taking 16 billion dollars in the name of assassination the terrorists by Musharraf but outcome is not zero plus zero but most of the terrorists were unchained from jails. Can we have guts to talk or frontage to the international society? ANP leaders and their MPs are scarifying their lives although why not Qazi, Manwar, Nawaz Sharif are dying in the bomb blasts? For the reason that they are immoral to international community and they are also friends of terrorists. Where are al Qaeda leaders? Musharraf knows this. Gordon Brown is annoyed with Pakistan and Pakistan is still however he should also solicit to Musharraf that where are al Qaeda’s leaders? Musharraf will divulge the reality.
