PFUJ take notice against Aftab Iqbal and Dr.Shahid Masood

Dear Mr.Pervez Shaukat(President PFUJ)

 

Please take notice of the TV show "Hasb-e-Hal" in the night of March 11th 2010 on Dunyya channel.Everybody knows that Mr.Aftab Iqbal is the script writer of that show.Mr.Aftab Iqbal used highly objectionable language against another anchor Dr.Shahid Masood which was violative of all the media ethics.He actually responded to the language used by Dr.Shahid Masood few days ago in the show of Asma Sherazi on ARY channel.He tried to say that program "Hasb-e-Hal" is like a Mujra and last night Aftab Iqbal proved that he is a bhaand.

 

I would like to remind my journalist freinds that two years ago same Aftab Iqbal wrote a column in praise of Dr.Shahid Masood in Daily Nawai Waqat and declared him the best anchor of Pakistan.Now he is saying that Dr.Shahid Masood is very bad.I think both Aftab Iqbal and Dr.Shahid Masood are two sides of a same coin.PFUJ must take some action against these kind of people who are using volgur language against each other on TV talk shows.

 

I am failed to understand that why channels like Geo have given platform to persons like Dr.Shahid who are not sure that they are journalist or not?This opportunist doctor left Geo and joined PTV for a big salary from Zardari and when Sherry Rehman refused to give him 5 millions from secret fund he resigned and went back to Geo.Now Geo have also accepted another opportunist Absar Alam who is speaking against judiciary these days on different channels.Channels like Geo have no importance for loyality and professional integrity.I don't know how people like Hamid Mir and Kamran Khan tolerated these opportunists in their ranks.When i see journalist like Ansar Abbasi in the show of Dr.Shahid Masood talking principles i always feel shame and forced to believe that these people have no principles,they just need cheap publicity.I was very very sad to see Hamid Mir last week talking on phone in the show of Dr.Shahid.I am sure that Dr.Shahid trapped Hamid Mir because Dr.Shahid need the names like Hamid Mir but these names don't need Dr.Shahid.Why Asma Sherazi invited this man who have lost his respect among journalist community after becoming MD PTV?I am very disappointed by the attitude of my senior journalist colleagues.I demand from PFUJ to make some rules for all us and discourage opportunists like DR.Shahid Masood and Aftab Iqbal.

It is easy to punch in a few paragraphs and assume positions and press the 'send' button - as opposed to face the pressure but not let any hinder reporting and doing investigative journalism like Ansar Abbasi saheb does!

I say, may he continue to open our eyes with his pen and may Allah give us enough courage to wake up to our conscience!

His appearing, and speaking of his views on shows, be it any show... I see no reason for you to feel or think that Ansar saheb needs publicity!

I feel saddened when people assume and are quick to judge or form bias.

I was hoping that this email group would have more tolerance and above all... Have time for important issues and occurances that we face in this country.

All I see is Hamid Mir, Dr. Shahid, Absar or Ansar being endlessly criticized. Which reminds me of a cliche, "small people talk people - great people talk ideas". Since I am not looking for idealism here... Let me just request that all of us atleast be neither small nor great,.. But just, 'normal' people and discuss issues and not personalities!

Every one can be agree for your view, what I feel basic thing which is missing all the anchors are crossing their limits of responsibility, media anchor person should act as coordinator between deferent participants keeping himself neutral  but what is going on is anchors are being paid more when they deviate from required level of responsibility
