Dear Friends,
I agree with Haris Khan, here I would like to share a biggest and basic fact of our newly born TV News industry that at one side we've very few professional credible journalists as news anchors/Host and on the other hand we've number of Artists, Doctors, Ex Bureaucrats, Travel agents, Builders, govt journalists and party girls who become news anchors/hosts and they are basically raping.
As we all know that the whole country is facing the biggest trauma of the history, I think this is the right time to promote true journalist and the true journalism.
These part timers were never belonged to the journalists community and they never welcomed in press clubs and our unions, hopefully they will leave the industry after raping their selves and viewer will put them out as they did in past with few of their partners.
Faysal Aziz Khan
I agree with you that some anchors are supporting and working for political pundits and you are right that some actors, artist and film makers are become journalists but this is the responsibility of Journalists union to stop the way of these non-professional people and so-called journalists.

Can someone ask Dr. Shahid Masood that you talk about Human Rights and other wrongdoing in the society in your Talk Show, but why don't you ask Haji Brothers (Owners of ARY CHANNEL) to pay wages to their workers, which is not paid to them for last three months.
But, just to keep the record straight Javed Ch., Tallat Hussain are senior journalists (though I am not here to defend anyone)

Dear Fellows
Media and judicial activism is an important factor which can help Pakistan become a better country. Therefore, the people who are doing activism from media forums should be given the space to continue what they are doing.

Your are right and myself agree with you. I think it is time of this debit. We have to work on this issue. I personally know the academic qualifications of the reporters who are working in the rural areas are attached with the TV Channels and printed media. My dear we have to continue our struggle this issue. It is a nice issue and request to the friends to carry on discussion.

Plz don?t mix off Javed Chudry and Talat Hussain in the category of film makers and NGOs brand anchors. They both are working journalists and we all respect them because they are professional journalists and they were started their career from Primary journalism but the other so many male and female anchors who came from Film industry and NGOs are not professional journalists, most of them are unaware from Journalism ethics. So we can just say that they (Film industry and NGOs brand anchors) should go back to their original field.

Though there is no single explanation to define a journalist, but, in
a narrow way, a Journalist is a professional who is directly related
with collection of facts/news to write it objectively in accordance
with the professional standards (ethics) of this discipline for
awareness of unknown audiences (Mass Communication). Sub-editors comes
in the same category, who polish such facts to complete a work that is
half done.
Though, the advent of TV journalism has blurred the way a Journalist
was defined traditionally, however, we can still vaguely say that a
journalist is different from an anchorperson or Talk show Host. Both
an anchorperson and hosts are more privileged (because they can freely
express opinion about an event or news, but this privilege single
handedly makes them different from a journalist). Sometime you would
see them out of the air-conditioned TV studios to cover an event such
as flash floods or long march etc but that do not make an
anchorperson, or TV host a Journalist. Because this aspect of
reporting represents a borrowed role, which is mainly attributed to a
field journalist.
TV anchoring, Talk show hosting and even column writings are
full-fledged professions, but in Pakistan professionals related to
such fields should know what they are and what they are not. Of course
they are not journalists because they are more privileged. This role
is so sacred that only seasoned journalists in the past were allowed
to write for opinion pages and that too towards the end of their
career. We hope fresh hosts and anchorpersons would use this
responsibility more professionally.

If discussion starts on basics then another question arises؛ the difference between a professional doctor and a professional journalist? I am just trying to jump into this discussion again and want to know from our Pakistani journalist’s opinion on the issue of professionalism, ethics and code of conduct.
I know from Peshawar to many journalists who after getting visa as journalists or accompanying any US delegation slipped in to United States leaving a bunch of embarrassment for our Pakistani brothers and I am announcing the launch of blog on these rotten eggs who are earning bad name for Pakistan. I know Jahangir Khattak Senior Journalist and leader of Khyber Union of Journalists, Syed Haider Shah photographer of Daily News International and also worked as photographer with top international media Syed Fakhr e Alam Staff reporter of Daily The Muslim, Faisal Qazi owner and Chief Editor of Daily Khyber Mail, Babar Majeed photographer, Asif dar brother of senior Editor Ashraf Dar, Bureau Chief of ANN Saeed iqbal Hashmi and too many others slipped in US and Europe. Pakistani journalists are still using their profession as a stepping stone and slipping in US. I don’t know weather it is professional and ethical or not but I am collecting data of such journalists at my blog http://pressreviewofpakistan.blogspot.com/ if you have any details of such people who are earning bad name for Pakistan pl do post your information
I fully endorse Tazeen Akhtar's point of view and analysis of these
so-called shows and their presenters.
" EVERY JOURNALIST CAN BE AN ANCHOR BUT EVERY ANCHOR CAN'T BE A JOURNALIST".
One can easity detect the depth of knowledge of an anchor on the topic
A journalist collects and disseminates information about current events, people, trends, and issues. His or her work is acknowledged as journalism.
Reporters are one type of journalist. They create reports as a profession for broadcast or publication in mass media such as newspapers, television, radio, magazines, documentary film, and the Internet. Reporters find sources for their work, their reports can be either spoken or written, and they are often expected to report in the most objective and unbiased way to serve the public good. A columnist is a journalist who writes pieces that appear regularly in newspapers or magazines.
Depending on the context, the term journalist also includes various types of editors and visual journalists, such as photographers, graphic artists, and page designers.
WHAT SHOULD BE THE TOPIC OF THIS DEBATE?
There are many, you may pick any one:
i-For the sake of Professionalism
ii-Who are Really not journalists?
iii-Prevention is better than cure
iv-Molestation of Pure Journalism in broadcast media
I hope it is enough.
Regards.
