Subject: Information Markets and television
I have been contacted by several individual with questions regarding
the accuracy of comments posted by various individuals regarding KGO
ABC7's use of a virtual market as a first by a television station in
the U.S. for interactivity with a viewing audience.

I believe in fairness to all of us who care deeply about this
industry, that we examine the applicatons of these markets in all
facets of academia and commerce, whether it be in the University
enviornment, corporate research or in the public domain, thoroughly.

While KGO's market is interesting, the fact is that the Hollywood
Stock Exchange launched the "Interactive Music Exchange" on Fuse
Network (Rainbow-media, a j/v of NBC and Cablevision) back in January,
2002 as part of a daily live broadcast televison show called IMX.

This virtual market listed contracts of musicians, videos and songs,
and featured real-time trading competitions for evaluating viewer
opinion of which artists/songs/video were most popular and foreacasted
to hit the top of the charts. The "Interactive Music Exchange" ran for
18 months and was discontinued when the television show, left the
air.

It should be noted, Fuse Network and the Hollywood Stock Exchange won
an AFI e-TV (American Film Institute) award for innovation in
television interactivity.

It should also be noted, that HSX had built and operated a virtual
market for Black Entertainment Television (BET) in October 2005,
called the "Ultimate Hustler Exchange", a virtual market for audience
participation in predicting who of 16 contestants would win a reality
TV series hosted by Damon Dash. The market may be viewed at
http:uhgame.com.

I would encourage all members of this community to careful examine our
industry's history, and notate appropriate accrediation to all parties
fairly.
