Hi,
First time on Google Groups, hope this works,,,(?)
3 days ago I purchased 28 accounts of the #3/yr/acct email spam and
virus filtering - Postini, as I am tired of the spam and my local ISP
Sasktel uses it, so I thought alot of our staff would already be
familiar with it,,,
Bought it from Google stores, I quickly got my setup email (about 30
minutes) with the link and code to start the setup wizzard.
I went through the wizard and I believe I got through it fine,,, and I
was able to log into the Postini control panel and look around.
For two days I couldn't get the SNMP(? think that was the name) mail
test to pass, the one where you send mail from the Postini server to
your mail server. After working with one of our local IT guys, I
realized that our existing spam filter rules on our firewall server
was blocking emails that had our "
norantel.com" domain in the "from"
field. Opps, now I'm in trouble. Once we removed that code off our
server, the three mail tests pass, and the firewall test failed as we
hadn't locked down our server or changed the MX recorded yet.
But I fear that the activation email is lost, and I can't find an easy
way to ask Postini to resent it. I have read a bunch and some "click
the link to call", but no number, I send one to a general email, but
nothing back yet,,, when I read about lost activation emails, some
info says you must have a Premium Google Apps to enter the MX info,
etc,,, Due to how much of a mess it will make if I enter the MX
records (as shown in the DNS info on the control panel) and Postini
isn't properly activated,,,Big mess,, I want to make sure that my
Postini account is ready to be hit with our email before changing the
MX records.
Note on my Postini control panel, I see what looks to be generic info
(our "
norantel.com" is not in the MX records info as shown) for using
the number "7" Postinin server,,,,
I can log into the control panel and add accounts and the welcome
email does reach the new user email inbox on their computer here in
our office.
Anyway, long post,,,
But do you think I should change my MX records without having recieved
the Activation email, what are the chances this will work?
How do I go about getting the activation email resent if you think I
need it?
Is there a number or something, as phone support is rather thin IMHO?
My account info shows the following, I can provide the ID# if this
would help, thanks for your comments.
