Born in 1949, and got polio from the second sugar cube in the series
of three. Mild case, lasted two weeks. Doc thought I had the new
Asian flu coming thru the country. Year was 1958. Three years later,
when an xray of my foot..due to a bad fall..was processed, he put me
back on the table and took xrays of my whole lower body. He did a
bunch of homework and discovered that nine people in our town had all
had the flu during the same time I did, and we all had taken the
second sugar cube and we all had polio. And so it goes.
At age 36, post polio syndrome hit me..and I literally hit the wall.
One full year of bedrest and a year of moving aorund slowly and taking
it easy helped in the recovery. I learned to go slow and plan
things. Two years ago, I finally had to have a knee to ankle brace
made to wear full time. I am still working, but going to retire at 62
instead of 70 like I had planned..
Those are the basic facts..;-)..just looking around for groups other
than Yahoo to belong too..
