Neocosmos is a highly regarded political theorist. His most recent book is From ‘Foreign Natives’ to ‘Native Foreigners’ Explaining Xenophobia in Post-apartheid South Africa, Citizenship and Nationalism, Identity and Politics (CODESRIA: DAKAR 2006, 2010)

Topic: Transition, Human Rights & Violence: rethinking a liberal political relationship in an African neo-colony

Format: Professor Neocosmos will speak to his paper, which is attached to this email, for twenty minutes following which questions will be taken. It will be assumed that all participants have read the paper.

The Paper: This paper draws on work that will be part of Professor Neocosmos's new book on emancipatory politics in Africa. It will be of particular interest to people interested in political theory.
