Subject: Troubleshooter - Problems uploading from Picasa to Picasa Web Albums
Hi everyone,

I noticed some of you are still experiencing issues uploading photos
from Picasa to Picasa Web Albums. I hope this updated troubleshooter
will simplify the steps for configuring your system. If you received a
"Failed to Connect" error when attempting to upload photos from
Picasa, there are a few possible causes. Please check the following:

1. Configure Internet Explorer (even if you use Firefox or Opera.)

Picasa uses Internet Explorer's settings to upload pictures to Picasa
Web Albums. Therefore, it's necessary to configure Internet Explorer
regardless of what you use as your default browser. By "configure" I
mean:

 a. You must be able to login to Picasa Web Albums (PWA) (http://
picasaweb.google.com/) with IE. (Note: The first time you login to PWA
you will be prompted to accept the Terms of Service -- this must be
done before you can upload images through the Picasa desktop client).

 b. In Internet Explorer, check "Tools" > "Internet Options" >
"Connections" > "LAN Settings" and make sure "Automatically Detect
Settings" is selected.

2. Disable Google Web Accelerator.

Google Web Accelerator and other internet accelerator programs that
route you through a proxy can conflict with Picasa and Picasa Web
Albums attempts to communicate. Try disabling all web accelerators.

3. Check your firewall settings.

Add Picasa to your firewall's "exceptions" list.

For Windows firewall:

4. Clear Internet Cache, Cookies, and Delete Offline Files:

For Internet Explorer 6 and Internet Explorer 7:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie6/using/howto/customizing/clear...

For Mozilla Firefox:

 a. Open Mozilla Firefox.
 b. Click on "Tools" > "Options" > "Privacy."
 c. Click "Cache" > "Clear."
 d. Select "OK" to exit.

5. Check if Internet Explorer browser set to "Work Offline" mode. If
so, please go to "File" > "Work Offline" and uncheck that option.

6. Reinstall Picasa by visiting http://www.picasa.com, and download
and reinstall the application (which will ensure you get the latest
version).

7. Reboot your computer.
