When I try to import raw photo's from my new XSi they come in pink
tones, but the previews look normal. Question: is there something
different about the XSi's CR2 file that is causing the error? Raw
works fine with the supplied software from cannon, but picasa, iphoto,
photoshop, and gimp are all having this same issue. Any thoughts?

I have the same problem. Looks like XSi's RAW is different, since
Photoshop CS3 also had problems opening it (it wouldn't open them at
all, giving an error message; unlike Picasa opening them with pink
shade). I installed a new update to CS3, and it opens XSi RAWs now. I
assume same applies to Picasa (they have to update it).

XSi (450D to most of the world) uses the same newer raw format as the
40D.
Sounds like Picasa only supports the older version.

I think, but I'm not sure, the change was with the Digic III
chip...Which means raw files from 450D, 40D and 1D mk3 won't work (and
this answers the question I had as to whether my 40D's raw would be
supported).
