So I realize I'm sending this out about 150 minutes too late for it actually to be a leap year email, but I hope y'all will cut me some slack. A few things I wanted to give you a heads-up on:
*1) Spring Show (+ Videos!)* For those of you who were at the Spring Show last weekend - it was great seeing you. For those of you who weren't, you missed out - but fear not! There will likely be video clips from the show posted on YouTube in the next couple weeks. I'll drop you all a line as soon as that's set up. For now, those of you who are on Facebook should be able to view some videos that one current member of the Club (newman Michael Kegerreis) has posted - just go to * http://upenn.facebook.com/video/?id=672598581*. If you're friends on Facebook with at least one current member of the Club, it should work. If not, the videos will hopefully be on YouTube shortly.
Several alumni were involved in the production, and their work can be seen on the video clips. Mike Keutmann was the director and lead choreographer (among the Facebook videos, he choreographed the songs "O Sifuni Mundu," "I'll Make a Man Out of You," "Joy to the World," "Milk and Cereal," and "This Little Light of Mine"); Mark Glassman wrote the script (of which the opening skit and change skit are samples); GCGC President Robert Biron choreographed the Tap Finale ("Nothing Can Stop Us Now"); and I did the arrangement of "This Little Light of Mine" (although the most impressive part of that number - the flashlight choreography - was done by Mr. Keutmann).
*2) Washington D.C. Performance (?)* There also might be one more opportunity to see the spring show, since the PGC might be performing the show in Washington DC in late March/early April. If any of those among you who live in DC-area alumni might be able to secure us a performance3 space, please let me know ASAP. I'm working on the staff at the GU Law Center, but it's not looking promising, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
*3) More Videos!* I also wanted to direct you to another series of Glee Club performance videos on the web. I recently (re-)discovered that the US Embassy in Uruguay has videos on their website of one of the Glee Club's performances during our 2005 tour. For those of you who are interested, the videos can be seen at * http://montevideo.usembassy.gov/usaweb/paginas/402-00.asx*. Just click on that link, and the videos will play one after the other. The videos include the ending of Monty's arrangement of "By the Beautiful Sea," the first few stanzas of my own arrangement of "Don't Forget Your Old Shipmates," and most of our tap finale from that year ("Puttin' on the Ritz"), arranged as always by our very own Robert Biron.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and I'm already looking forward to seeing you in May!
